Little Six60 Castle St

Earlier this month a tiny version of a Dunedin student flat 660 Castle Street appeared at the grounds of New Zealand’s iconic stadium, Eden Park.

Six60 Castle Street

This miniature replica was the creation of My Little Pub and marked the release of New Zealand’s biggest band, Six60’s new album, Castle Street.

In true My Little Pub family style, the creation of this Little Pub brought the band, the build team and our valued suppliers together in a collaboration to bring the Six60 flat to life. The result, an almost perfect 660 Castle St replica.

This custom creation is special in so many ways. Firstly, this Little House, a replica of a Dunedin Student flat on the infamous Castle Street was the beginnings and namesake of the band itself. On the outside you see the hand-painted 660 numbers and the worn out brick and doors like you would’ve seen 15 years ago when Dunedin student flats were much worse than they are today.

Then you move inside, stepping on the old school style carpet and you see the bar with a neon Gardie’s sign reminding you of the plastic jugs and sticky floors of the iconic Gardie’s bar before it got closed down. You look closely at the walls and look past the band’s records and framed Eden Park show picture to see the nicotine stains from years worth of flat debauchery.
Then you grab a drink from behind the bar and sit on the couch, no signs of burn marks, and grab the remote to get the TV. The TV surprises you and springs up from the cupboard in front of the old bay windows. Definitely not something from the old flat, but instead a nod to the band who enjoy playing a video game or two before getting on stage.

Watch the heart, teamwork and precision that went into this tiny, 660 Castle St replica.
