The Little Highland Tavern

Introducing, perhaps the most luxurious pub to date, The Little Highland Tavern.

This Little (ish) Pub was born in Southland where it’s owners had two main things in mind; Family and Rugby.

With a name like the Little Highland Tavern it’s not hard to guess which Super Rugby team this Family supports. Take a step inside and you’ll find another rugby tribute, the prized possession on the walls, a Southland Stags jersey from when they claimed the Ranfurly Shield over Canterbury in October 2009, returning the shield to Southland after 50 years.

A lot of pride and thought went into the every inch of this Little Pub. The owners incorporating their own personal touches in every detail from their Scottish heritage, to the colours found from their own pub research, to the brick work on the fireplace, the window design and the Steinlager sign above the showcase. These Little Publicans really made every corner of their Little Pub their own.

The basis of the Little Highland Tavern is a platinum model Irish Pub, it’s the larger version of your standard pub stretching from the standard 4.3m width to 6m allowing further accessibility and more space. The defining features of this platinum model come from the custom made stained glass windows, the fireplace plinth & mantel built in with the inbuilt TV wall unit and feature panel.

Myself (Brei) & Building Director, Gary had the absolute privilege of delivering this Little Pub to it’s new home. It was a memorable day made challenging by some typical Southland weather but the Little Highland Tavern found it’s place under the trees, tucked slightly out of site from the main home. Not only is it now the number one place to watch rugby in Southland, a part from Rugby Park itself, it is also a golf club, a friend and family hang out spot, and we’ve been told it’s maybe an extra space to rest ones head when the walk to the home is just that little too far…

When asked what they thought of their new pub Marc replied “Mahalia wants noted..  I had to talk him into getting the pub, and now I can’t keep him out’ve it.. But honestly “The Little Highland Tavern” is perfect, I’ve been out there, cranked up the music, watched a few footy games and it’s got an aura about it.. can see myself having quite a few late nights over the years out there."

Everyone is blown away with the attention to detail, all the cool memorabilia, and the space we have in the little-ish pub..”

We wish these new Little Publicans all of the best times and memories from their Little Pub!
